NOTE. Salon, a salon and culture space based in Turku, but above all, an embodiment of its agenda in finessed style and unexpected connections. The man behind the brand, also active in music industry hosts events regularly both at the salon space and under its broader concept's name in other venues.
Note. Open House hosted specifically themed DJ events in Turku's Ullakko bar in autumn 2022. A set of six gigs were illustrated by photographer Hilla Virta's shots in a continuous yet always individual poster design covering both print and digital.
Personally considered a experiment in repetition, the photos were transformed to somewhat kaleidoscopic compositions beneath a set frame consisting of typographic elements. As the autumn darkened to winter, so did the colour schemes of the designs. Once you set foot in the door, though, the beats were immersive, ecstatic.
According to the client:
"NOTE.Open House ran as a residence club in 2022 with variety of musical output spanning from Reggae to live Electronic music. Each month the club was presented through printed media – an aspect that is an integral part of communicating the spirit of the residency.
The palette of designs helped to bring together the musical and non-musical elements, the theme of the series makes nice collectibles as hand-out material functions as personal token also. While having that traditional club feel NOTE.Open House functions as a progressive ”new scene” idea and the visuals matched nicely – part heritage, part future.
I found the collaborative work to be relaxed and well planned which in return supported playing around with the ideas more. Kaisa’s understanding of cultural relevance of residence, or house clubs, communicates international flavour and were well received."
